Material Scientist, TEM

Nanolab Technologies is looking for a TEM to join our Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) team. The technician will work directly on transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM). Job functions include performing Bright Field/Dark Field imaging using TEM/STEM, interpretation of data and interacting with customers.

Ideally, you should have Bachelor or Associate degree in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physicals, Metallurgical Engineering, or other relevant engineering physical science disciplines; Good understanding of electron microscopy and semiconductor device physics preferred; Recent hands-on experience with TEM/STEM preferred; Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation); Self-motivated, organized and interested in learning.

SIMS Scientist

EAG Laboratories is seeking a Scientist to join our SIMS group located in Sunnyvale, CA. Responsibilities for this role include conducting analytical test of organic or inorganic substances.  Analyzes and tests new or existing materials to identify their properties and characteristics for the development or improvement of new or existing products.  Studies the relationship between chemical and physical properties.  Works independently to perform the full range of analytical work, including complex tasks.  Solves complex and difficulties problems.  Ensures schedule, budget, and performance requirements are met. Candidates with a PhD degree in either in Physics, Chemistry or Material Science with experience in analytical chemistry, with working knowledge of characterization techniques: secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and Auger spectroscopy, RBS, AFM, XRD, and FT-IR and with semiconductor materials and/or ancillary technical experience.

Equipment Maintenance Engineer

EAG Laboratories is looking for an Engineer with a BSEE who will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of EAG’s analytical instruments and ancillary equipment located at the Sunnyvale, California lab. The ideal individual must have at least three years of experience with circuit design, board design, component level troubleshooting for equipment or instrumentation.

This position could require periodic travel to other EAG laboratories to include Minneapolis, Shanghai, Taiwan, Sunnyvale, El Segundo and occasional travel to other sites.

The individual should have a BE/BS in electronics or electrical engineering and 3-5 years of experience trouble shooting and repairing high voltage circuitry, high vacuum systems, analog/digital circuitry, electro-mechanical assemblies, and related systems.  Experience with Cameca and Physical Electronics systems a plus.

TEM Engineer

Precision TEM is part of the Eurofins EAG Laboratories group, a leader in advanced microscopy, surface analysis and semiconductor testing services of various types of materials from synthetic biomaterials to nanotechnology, deliver new “super materials” with the potential to transform our world. Precision TEM is looking for a strong TEM Engineer who has experience operating and analyzing various materials using TEM. In this role, the individual will be responsible for obtaining Bright Field, High resolution, diffraction patterns, dark field TEM and HAADF STEM images of samples prepared by others in the lab, obtaining STEM/EDX and STEM/EELS spectra, line scans and maps to meet customers’ needs, organize data, prepare and deliver summary reports to customers, work with customers and team members to optimize experiments and explain results and develop TEM analysis protocols for new sample types. Ideal candidate will have a BS degree in Materials Science, hands on familiarity using a TEM to characterize hard materials, an excellent understanding of the operation and theory of a Transmission Electron Microscope, familiar with FEI Tecnai TEM/STEM, Oxford/Bruker EDS, Gatan EELS, Digital Micrograph and with aberration-correction TEM.

Materials Technician, Dual Beam FIB

Nanolab Technologies is looking for a Technician for our Dual Beam group. Primary function would be imaging client samples using FEI 4xx/Helios Dual Beam FIB tools and TEM sample preparation of lamella. The successful candidate will work as a part of a team and be expected to rapidly gain a working knowledge of many analytical techniques. Note the work hours for this position would be swing shift starting at 9pm. The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of focused experience in dual beam FIB and SEM operation, experience with TEM sample preparation, a Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering physical science discipline and solid understanding of electron microscopy, semiconductor device physics and failure analysis (through previous work experience or course work).

Service Engineer

EAG Laboratories is now hiring a Service Engineer to be responsible for maintenance of ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) materials characterization equipment comprising over 20 instruments including SIMS, XPS and AES techniques in EAG’s Princeton NJ facility. (SIMS – Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry, XPS – X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy, AES – Auger Electron Spectroscopy)

The primary responsibility will be hands on repair of mechanical and electronic equipment.  The position also involves participating in development projects to improve instrument performance and create new capabilities, and working with vendors for sourcing and design of replacement parts and materials.

This position requires a BS in Electronics or equivalent trade school or practical experience as well as strong mechanical aptitude.

The engineer be required to work after office hours, weekends and holidays.

Senior Service Engineer/Facilities Manager

EAG Laboratories is now hiring a Senior Service Engineer and Facilities Manager to be responsible for maintenance of ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) materials characterization equipment as well as facilities management tasks in EAG’s Princeton NJ facility.  Included would be supervision and management of the engineering staff.

The primary responsibility will be hands on repair of mechanical and electronic equipment.  The position also involves leading and participating in development projects to improve instrument performance and create new capabilities.

This position requires a BS in Electronics or equivalent trade school or practical experience (10 years) as well as strong mechanical aptitude, along with experience in management of personnel (5 years).

SEM Materials Technician

Nanolab Technologies is looking for a SEM Technician to join our Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) team. The technician will be responsible for SEM Imaging, Sample prep cross sectioning, epoxy sample prep, EDS analysis, mechanical polishing, chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) and parallel lapping and deprocessing, 2D x-ray and wet etching. In this role, work closely with tool vendors to understand tool performance and develop new techniques to improve throughput, perform basic tool maintenance and calibration. Communicate with customers and prepare reports for clients. The work environment is fast-paced with firm deadlines. The successful candidate will work as a part of a team. Pursuing or have obtained a certificate in Materials Science or Electron Microscopy, experience with SEM cross sectioning and knowledge of semiconductor industry. The production operators will be responsible for operating automated test equipment (ATE) to test semiconductor parts/components.
