Senior Metallurgist

We have an opportunity for a Senior Consulting Metallurgist to work on industrial failure analysis and for expert witness support in litigation cases relating to product liability and patent infringement. We work with automotive, aerospace, heavy equipment, maritime, consumer products and medical device industries. In this role, you will be involved in developing and supervising the failure analysis test methods and procedures, defining protocols, and investigating the root cause of product failures. This role is at the forefront of providing scientific expertise and data interpretation for industrial failures and expert testimony in legal cases.

The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of metallurgy and advanced failure analysis techniques, and provide expertise relating to metals, polymers, composites and ceramics. Metallographer

 

We have a great opportunity for a Metallographer/Metallurgical Technician for our metallurgical and failure analysis laboratory. Our lab located in the Los Angeles area provides consulting and expert witness services in materials failure analysis to clients including a diverse range of industries and business sectors with companies that design, manufacture or incorporate products for tomorrow’s technology driven world. The selected candidate must have experience in metallography, hardness/micro-hardness testing and digital photography required. B.S. degree in Metallurgy or Materials Science is preferred.

TEM Materials Analyst

Nanolab Technology is looking for a strong TEM Analyst who has experience operating and analyzing various materials using TEM. In this role, the individual will be responsible for:

  • Obtaining Bright Field, High resolution, diffraction patterns, dark field TEM and HAADF STEM images of samples prepared by others in the lab.
  • Organize data, prepare and deliver summary reports to customers.
  • Work with customers and team members to optimize experiments and explain results.
  • Develop TEM analysis protocols for new sample types.

Note this position will need to be able to work either one of these work schedules:

  • 6:30am – 3:30pm plus one weekend day or
  • 1:00pm – 10:00pm plus one weekend day

Production Operator (6 month contract)

EAG Laboratories, with 17 locations and 600 employees is a global scientific services company seeking is production operators to join our team on a temporary basis located in Santa Clara, CA. The production operators will be responsible for operating automated test equipment (ATE) to test semiconductor parts/components. Note this position will require availability to work during the weekend.  Day Shift: Thursday – Monday, 8:00am – 4:30pm and Swing Shift: Friday – Tuesday, 3:30pm – midnight. Senior Failure Analysis Engineer

Senior Engineer will be responsible for evaluating the electrical and mechanical characteristics of systems and/or integrated circuits, components, sub-components and systems to determine the cause of failure, including the verification of analog and digital performance.  Analyzing failure reports and recommends corrective action.  Developing methods, processes, procedures, and equipment that will improve the failure analysis process and/or reduce failures. Must be hands-on in a laboratory environment, operating tools, performing techniques, etc. Be the source for technical information, guidance and leadership. Ideal candidate must have  a BSEE or advanced degree, 10+ years of experience in semiconductor or electronics failure analysis (semiconductor fabrication, device physics, IC design, package assembly)

SEM Technician

We are looking for a SEM Technician to join our Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) engineering team located at our Nanolab Technologies location. Job functions include Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) Imaging, sample prep cross-sectioning, microcleaving. The individual will work closely with tool vendors to understand tool performance and develop new techniques to improve throughput, perform basic tool maintenance and calibration, communicate with customers and prepare PowerPoint reports. Instrument Electrical Service Engineer

EAG Laboratories is looking for an Engineer with a BSEE who will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of EAG’s analytical instruments and ancillary equipment located at the Sunnyvale, California lab. The ideal individual must have at least three years of experience with circuit design, board design, component level troubleshooting for equipment or instrumentation.

This position could require periodic travel to other EAG laboratories to include Minneapolis, Shanghai, Taiwan, Sunnyvale, El Segundo and occasional travel to other sites.

The individual should have a BE/BS in electronics or electrical engineering and 3-5 years of experience trouble shooting and repairing high voltage circuitry, high vacuum systems, analog/digital circuitry, electro-mechanical assemblies, and related systems.  Experience with Cameca and Physical Electronics systems a plus.

Materials Analyst, Dual Beam FIB

Nanolab Technologies is looking for a Analyst for our Dual Beam group. Primary function would be imaging client samples using FEI 4xx/Helios Dual Beam FIB tools and TEM sample preparation of lamella. The successful candidate will work as a part of a team and be expected to rapidly gain a working knowledge of many analytical techniques. Note the work hours for this position would be swing shift starting at 9pm. The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of focused experience in dual beam FIB and SEM operation, experience with TEM sample preparation, a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant engineering physical science discipline and solid understanding of electron microscopy, semiconductor device physics and failure analysis (through previous work experience or course work).

Candidates with a PhD degree in either in Physics, Chemistry or Material Science with experience in analytical chemistry, with working knowledge of characterization techniques: secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and Auger spectroscopy, RBS, AFM, XRD, and FT-IR and with semiconductor materials and/or ancillary technical experience.
