Evans Analytical Group Welcomes Dana Medlin, Ph.D., P.E., FASM
Evans Analytical Group welcomes Dana Medlin, Ph.D., P.E., FASM to our team of scientists and engineers providing technical consulting, problem solving and litigation support. He brings 25+ years of industrial and research experience in metallurgical engineering, chemistry, material science and corrosion engineering.
We are pleased to add him to our team of technical and scientific experts offering support for legal challenges. Dr. Medlin’s litigation support services have proven critical for cases involving medical device, automotive, aviation, marine, heavy equipment and engineering components. He has provided testing, data review, depositions and expert testimony for product liability and other cases.
EAG’s clients will also benefit from his extensive medical device background. He has experience with FDA device regulations and 510k submissions for both small and large companies. Dr. Medlin has researched and developed orthopedic devices, spinal and dental implants. His experience with medical devices includes materials evaluations, failure analyses and corrosion testing protocols.
Dr. Medlin’s expertise performing forensic studies will prove valuable to our clients facing metallurgical and polymer material failures. He has industrial experience with manufacturing and failure analysis of bearings for numerous engineering applications including aerospace, automotive, and heavy equipment. Dr. Medlin has supervised industrial analytical research for sheet steel, heat treatment and coatings. This includes troubleshooting metallurgical related industrial processes such as machining, forging, heat treating, plating, and cleaning processes. His evaluations of metallurgy quality problems and failures have led to many product improvements.
Dr. Medlin earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, with an emphasis in metallurgy. He also received a Ph.D. in Material Science Engineering at the University of Nebraska. He was previously a professor in the Metallurgical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering programs at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He is also a Fellow of ASM International, as well as the author of numerous publications, books and patents.
