Three Scientists Join CHEMIR:
CHEMIR welcomes Douglas Hammerstroem, Ph.D., Rachel Rensing, M.S. and Wendy La, B.S. to our growing staff of analytical chemistry scientists. Our growing lab continues to add new career opportunities, visit our Careers page for current openings.
Dr. Hammerstroem earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. His research experience focuses on custom synthesis, he is adept at both organic and inorganic synthetic methods. He also has expertise in characterizing compounds using GC and GC-MS instrumentation. Dr. Hammerstroem joins CHEMIR’s team as a Scientist and will be involved in deformulation (reverse engineering), contaminant identification, failure analyses and materials characterization projects.
Wendy La, a recent graduate of Truman State University, Kirksville, Missouri joins our analytical laboratory as Technician. At Truman State she served as a research assistant under Dr. Brian Lamp, Ms. La also was a Stevenson Fellowship Summer Intern at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Rachel Rensing earned her M.S. and B.S. in Chemistry from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville (SIUE). She specializes in applying multiple analytical techniques to support R&D and problem solving, with an emphasis on utilizing high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). She joins CHEMIR as Senior Scientist, and recently worked at Sigma Aldrich and Steris. Ms. Rensing began her career at CHEMIR as Lead Analyst, and we welcome her back.
