Gaining New Analytical Instrumentation for R&D Support and Problem Solving
CHEMIR – a division of Evans Analytical Group recently purchased new instrumentation, as we continue to increase our analytical capabilities. CHEMIR offers testing laboratory services to companies needing R&D support and industrial problem solving.
We recently acquired a Thermo Scientific Q Exactive Plus Mass Spectrometer. This powerful tool is capable of identifying, characterizing and quantifying both large and small molecules in complex matrices. The Q Exactive provides high resolution (mass accuracy), high sensitivity for low abundance analytes. “We are looking forward to using this faster mass spectrometer, and also to performing multiple experiments simultaneously,” says Albert Lee, Ph.D., Director of CHEMIR. “This instrument will increase our capabilities for contaminant screening and quantitation for our clients solving problems with pharmaceuticals, food and chemicals.”
Also acquired in Summer 2015 is a new Agilent GC/MS/FID, with duel injectors and duel detectors (MS/FID). This instrument is designed to run as a GC/MS and GC/FID simultaneously. The GC/MS has the ability for identifying peaks, and the GC/FID is useful for quantitation purposes. For example, CHEMIR’s scientist can perform a purity analysis using the GC/FID portion of the instrument, while also identifying the impurities by using the GC/MS. This instrument will allow our scientists to provide higher quality data in a more efficient manner.
The acquisition of these new tools is part of the company’s expansion in order to provide the highest quality results. CHEMIR continues to grow and meet the needs for analytical problem solving for such industries as pharmaceutical, medical device, plastics, coatings, chemical, packaging and more.
